Dear reader,
The Independent Republic of Azerbaijan, which is only
ten, has been slowly stepping in from an old political and economical
system to the new system, which looks like a thousand-year old man
with a crook in the hand. Our people are delighted of full and firm
independence, territorial integrity, powerful state, and fair society
such as hundred years ago. People want to live in a society where
everybody can enjoy equal rights and where the law is superior to
everything and to everyone. All people can walk freely and there
is a freedom of expression, where people have confidence to the
power formed by people they have chosen and there is no obstacle
and threat for them to get necessary welfare life. These wishes
and desires cannot be wishful thinking at all. These principles
and habits have long been an ordinary mode of life for many people.
We also want to live in this beautiful part of the world. We do
have right to prove that it depends on us to get what we deserve.
Democratic society is possible through infinite multiple
unions, diverse organizations established by free citizens. Civil
society is a socio-political space where people may realize their
initiatives easily without obstacles.
To date, many in Azerbaijan are aware of definitions
like "democratic state", "civil society", and
other similar words. Late years we have been familiar with many
great specimens of liberty, humanistic principles that civil society
has endowed mankind with. Now it is necessary for us to get used
to these principles and to turn them into our life style. We believe
that our citizens are able to turn universally recognized human
ideas to the norms of life by filtering them through national traditions.
Dear reader,
"The III Sector" may also be considered
the offspring of the Non-Governmental Organization Information Bulletin
published so far by "Inam" Pluralism Center. The aforementioned
bulletin, which eight issues have already been put out since 1998,
is now substituted by “The III Sector” journal published under a
new name, form and content.
We are publishing this journal for those who
allowed not only themselves to have freedom and equality before
the law but let the others too.
